It seems that the movie Udta Punjab just can’t catch a break when it comes to its release date and terms. First, the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) tried to stop the movie from ever seeing the light of day, but that was solved after a trial, in which court ordered CBFC to release the movie. This was very good news for everyone that worked on it, but unfortunately, their troubles have just started.
Only two days before it was scheduled to be played in public, Udta Punjab mysteriously found its way to internet, where online piracy took over. Now you can find fragments of the movie all over different pirate websites, and there are claims that even a full length movie can be found. Naturally, all eyes turned to the CBFC for explanation, as it is suspected that they were the ones who leaked the movie in the first place. There are some allegations that this was an act of punishment arranged by CBFC for the cast and crew of Udta Punjab, but there is no substantial evidence for this claim yet.
